The idea

Your kids are fine. The week isn't.

My value proposition: Decide without arguing. Get your life back without guilt. Love more calmly.

Dinner is a negotiation. Bedtime is a negotiation. Saturday is a shuttle service. By the time the house is quiet, you're too tired to talk to anyone - including each other.

Here's the part of French family life worth borrowing: you're allowed to just decide. Not harshly. Just without a vote.

A few clear limits, consistently held - and within them, far more freedom than many American families are used to giving their kids.

For everyone, including you.

About me

Jonathan Berthet

When I arrived in America, people were intrigued by the fact that I was French - but even more by the way my two daughters behaved and by how we were raising them.

I was surprised to discover that French parenting had already gained popularity in the US. And the more I talked with American parents, the more I realized there was something valuable in the French approach that families here were looking for.

Something that AI (which has never faced kids' tantrums) or books can't quite capture: the unspoken rules, shared social norms, and cultural nuances that most people simply grow up understanding.

Raising my two French daughters in America, I realized how amazing it is to be able to pick the best of both cultures for my children. And I wanted to share this.

That's why I created FrenchParenting.com: practical parenting strategies inspired by French family culture, adapted to the realities of American families.

The goal is simple - to help parents build calmer, healthier and more balanced family lives that are attributed to French families.

I'm not a therapist, physician or dietitian. I'm a modern dad, juggling a full-time career, my coaching practice, and my family.

And as a management consultant, I naturally approach parenting the way I approach complex problems: through practical frameworks, real-life experience, and a focus on what actually works.
